who we are.

Culture To Go is a gallery lunch counter and culinary studio rooted in Anacostia—DC’s official Arts and Culture District. We craft seasonal, locally sourced meals inside a working art gallery, turning food into a natural extension of the exhibitions around us. Here, bread, creativity, and culture rise together.

Culture To Go began with a simple idea: that food and culture can rebuild a community from the ground up. What started as a neighborhood sourdough project grew into a creative hub where bread, art, and conversation meet daily. Menus shift with each exhibit, regional ingredients, and the chef’s own family traditions. Every dish becomes an “edible exhibition”—a way to nourish both body and imagination.

Through Southeast Sourdough—our flagship venture—we bake naturally leavened breads, offer affordable catering, and host creative workshops that uplift neighbors and support community entrepreneurship. Every loaf, event, and gathering helps build a more connected, more flavorful Ward 8.

we stand for three things:

Food access.
Cultural preservation
.
Community entrepreneurship
.

We believe good food should nourish both people and opportunity—and that creativity belongs in every kitchen. Our deli counter and gallery space serve as a platform for local artists, chefs, farmers, and culture-bearers.

what makes us different.

Culture To Go is more than a deli.

We source locally, cook with intention, and create food experiences that echo the creative energy of Southeast DC. Menus shift with exhibitions, pop-ups feature guest chefs, and workshops turn meals into conversation.

Every canvas is a story. Every loaf is an invitation.

Culture is something we make together.
